Berry Purple Oatmeal

Berry Purple Oatmeal

Vegan

This vibrant, nutrient-dense oatmeal is as fun to eat as it is to make — and kids love the deep purple color from blended berries. Packed with fiber, healthy fats, and plant-based protein, it’s a beautiful, blood sugar–friendly start to the day that supports skin, hormones, and energy.

Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1–1 ½ cups berries of choice (I love blueberries and raspberries)
  • 2–2 ½ cups water or plant-based milk (like almond milk)
  • 2 tbsp agave or sweetener of choice (to taste)
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  • 3 tbsp flaxseed meal
  • 3 tbsp hemp seeds

Optional toppings:

  • Sliced coconut
  • Dried cranberries
  • Chopped walnuts
  • Splash of milk

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the berries with your choice of water or milk. Blend until smooth and pour into a small pot.
  2. Bring the berry liquid to a gentle boil, then stir in oats. Reduce to a simmer and cook until oats are soft and creamy (about 5–7 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  3. Add chia seeds, flaxseed meal, hemp seeds, and sweetener. Stir to combine and let everything thicken slightly.
  4. Serve warm with your favorite toppings and a splash of extra milk if desired.

Wellness Notes

  • Kids love the bright color (and it’s secretly packed with nutrients!)
  • Chia, flax, and hemp seeds support blood sugar balance, healthy skin, and hormone function
  • Oats are a whole grain that gently support thyroid health
  • Berries are loaded with antioxidants and fiber

Modify This Recipe

  • Swap blueberries for a berry blend if desired
  • Play with different toppings like banana, almond butter, and walnuts
